You are to blame for your illness!
Updated: Jan 16, 2023
I was diagnosed with MS at 24 and considering my psycho-emotional make up, I easily bought into the idea that I am to blame for my illness. At the time, this idea was just starting to gain momentum, but today, almost 20 years later, this thought is mainstream and part of the collective dialogue. The idea that you are to blame for your illness is found in traditional and non-traditional medical systems, from western medicine, the most physical form of medicine to more subtle energy healing modalities. Your thoughts, your feelings, your actions, your genetics, your environment are the cause of your illness. While these could all be contributing factors, you don’t really know why you have an illness. And because you don’t know and will most likely never fully know, don’t take the blame. Take responsibility? YES. Investigate? Yes. Take action? Yes. And most importantly love and support yourself through this ordeal. Life is bigger than you.
